PROTAGO is 2022 collection is inspired by various fashion elements. The exquisite and comfortable frames are embedded with a diversity of unparalleled patterns and eclectic materials. And because of its bold designs and sophisticated details, each frame is unique and has its own identity.

Lace
Design Concept

Integration of clothing design elements has always been PROTAGO’s exploration area in which lace played one of the main inspiration elements in this season's collection.

The earliest mention of lace was found in Europe in the 15th century. It was always an expensive luxury item because of the painstaking, time-consuming production, and often the most costly part of the dress and reflected the sophisticated tastes of the aristocracy.

We have taken the reference of the French Alencon lace, which is also called the “Queen of Lace” and listed as Human Immaterial Cultural Heritage.

Embedding the Alencon Lace patterns into our frames is a bold attempt to pay tribute to the sophisticated craftsmanship in human culture and explore a dialogue between classic and modernism.

Velvet
Design Concept

Velvet originated in the Far East, and till the beginning of the 14th century, the textile was first recorded. This textile's soft texture but extremely complex weaving craftsmanship made it to be the perfect material for ecclesiastical vestments, royal robes, and sumptuous hangings, in which Queen Victoria became a fan and King Richard II directed in his will that his body should be clothed in velvet.
For this season's collection, we explored the possibility of integrating the traditional cold frames with this soft texture, using Royal Blue color to amplify the nobleness and splendour. We have innovatively integrated the versatile frames with this classic textile, adding a touch of vintage and romantic charm to the modern frames.

Ultra-lightweight
Design Concept

To design eyewear that integrates fashion and comfort has always been PROTAGO's objective since the brand was born. The Ultra-lightweight acetate series interprets this concept and our understanding of minimalism style. Weighing only 19g to 23g (including lenses), which is approximately equivalent to one cherry, the Ultra-lightweight series is two-thirds the weight of average acetate glasses, thanks to the minimalist design of temples and the application of Titanium and ultra-lightweight acetate material.

Adhering to the concept of eyewear being the protagonist, PROTAGO re-contemplated the designs of eyewear accessories. We have combined the eyewear chain and bag to be the brand new pochette, which can be used with daily gadgets such as cell phones, keys, etc. The mini glasses pendant adds a touch of fun and enhances the power of fashion & function.
